During your free car accident consultation, we can review your specific situation and answer this question and any other legal questions you may have.

At Jay Trucks and Associates, these are some of the details our Michigan car accident lawyer may want to review during your consultation:

  • The extent and severity of your injuries
  • Doctor’s notes
  • Medical records
  • Witness statements
  • Your account of the accident
  • The accident report
  • Pictures of your injuries and/or the accident scene
  • Type and severity of vehicle damage

Once we understand more about your car accident, we can determine whether you may be eligible to pursue compensation and discuss the legal options that may apply.

There are many factors to consider to fully understand the value of a car crash, including:

  • Whether you missed work as the result of injuries sustained in your car accident
  • The types of coverage or policy limits of the at-fault driver or the vehicle owner if you were a passenger or driving someone else’s car when the car accident occurred
  • Other optional coverage that may apply, such as uninsured or underinsured motorist protection (UM/UIM)
  • Whether you or other injured victims may suffer severe or permanent limitations due to the vehicle accident, such as a traumatic brain injury
  • The type and degree of pain and suffering you are experiencing because of the accident

At Jay Trucks and Associates, we are prepared to discuss your potential car accident claim during a free consultation. Our experienced car accident lawyers understand how to calculate the value of Michigan car accident claims. We are prepared to help you pursue the maximum compensation for your damages if we find you have a valid personal injury claim.

Although it is illegal in Grand Rapids and throughout the state of Michigan, some drivers choose not to purchase the required insurance.

If an uninsured driver injured you in an accident, or you were injured by a driver who does not have enough coverage to pay for your damages, you may be able to file a claim for your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. This coverage is optional and is usually sold with limits of $20,000 per person and $40,000 per crash.

However, these types of claims are often more complicated, as certain requirements must be met before you can use this coverage. That is why it can be very helpful to have the assistance of a licensed car accident attorney.

Our knowledgeable Clare car accident lawyers welcome the opportunity to review the circumstances of your car accident to determine the insurance coverages that may apply.

While we cannot guarantee any specific outcome, our experienced attorneys know how to handle car accident claims, and we can manage each step of the legal process, which may include:

  • Investigating the car accident
  • Obtaining video footage
  • Getting eyewitnesses statements
  • Negotiating with insurance adjusters for fair financial compensation
  • Consulting medical experts to determine the extent of your injuries and the projected length of your recovery
  • Using technology to reconstruct the car crash, when necessary

Car accident victims who choose to hire a lawyer typically recover more financial compensation for their damages than those who attempt to deal with the insurance company on their own.

If you or someone you love suffered from a personal injury, it is important to file your claim as soon as possible. Under the Michigan statute of limitations, most personal injury claims, including wrongful death claims, must be filed within three years of the injury or date of death. If you fail to file before the clock runs out, you may lose the right to seek compensation for damages.

However, you may need to file earlier in some situations. For instance, if your claim involves medical malpractice, you may have just two years from the date of malpractice to file a claim. There are various exceptions to this deadline. If you are filing a claim against a government entity, you may need to provide notice to that entity much sooner than two or three years from the date of the accident.

Our qualified Grand Rapids personal injury lawyers are available to discuss the deadline for your claim. The clock could already be running so it is important to contact us as soon as possible.

A free consultation with one of our experienced attorneys is free of charge and comes with no obligation to take legal action. We do not get paid unless our clients are paid. There is no risk to you in calling us.
