Workplace Discrimination
When an employee is treated unfairly based on his or her race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, or disability, an act of workplace discrimination has occurred. The federal government has passed laws prohibiting workplace discrimination. In particular, it is illegal for employers to discriminate in the following work-related areas:
• Recruiting
• Hiring
• Job evaluations
• Promotion policies
• Training

• Disciplinary action
It is important to understand that unequal treatment of employees is not necessarily an indication that discrimination has occurred. Differential treatment based on job performance would not be cause for a discrimination lawsuit. Daylight Savings Time and Auto Accidents
Over the years, several studies have been conducted monitoring the incidence of auto accidents immediately following turning the clocks ahead for daylight savings time. In general, there is a 17% increase in auto accidents on the Monday directly following daylight savings time.
This dramatic increase in auto accidents is most likely caused by sleep deprivation. It takes many people upwards of a week to recover from losing an hour of sleep for daylight savings time. While this phenomenon may be understandable, it is certainly alarming.
The easiest way to avoid becoming part of this statistic is to stay off the road immediately following the time change. However, for most Americans, this is just not an option. If you must drive right after daylight savings time, pay extra attention for sleep deprived, erratic drivers on the road.
