What is a Contingency Fee?
A contingency fee refers to a fee that is payable to an attorney only when the result is favorable to the client. Certain attorneys are willing to work on a "contingency fee basis," which means no legal fees are payable unless and until there is a successful resolution to your case. The attorney is then entitled to a certain previously agreed upon percentage of the financial compensation you receive. No legal fee is owed in the event of an unsuccessful result.
