Motorcycle Accidents

In 2006, nearly 5,000 deaths occurred in motorcycle accidents – many of them avoidable situations. The predominant cause of multi-vehicle accidents involving a motorcycle is due to the failure of the person driving the car or SUV to see the motorcyclist in traffic. In cases such as these, the motorcyclist has less than two seconds to take action to avoid the collision. Not a lot of time.

In addition, the likelihood of the cyclist sustaining injuries is very high – in 98% of multi-vehicle wrecks involving a motorcycle, the driver is injured. For single vehicle wrecks, the cyclist in 96% of the cases is also injured. And as we see from the statistic above, many of those injuries result in fatalities.
